  • FRESNO, Calif. (FOX26) — Some people who are interested in a career in aviation now have a better idea of what it takes.

The local chapter of the Experimental Aircraft Association offered free rides in private planes as part of its Young Eagles program.

The event took place at the Sierra Sky Park near Herndon and Brawley in Fresno on Saturday.

For many, this was their first flight or first time in a private plane.

“It was a thrill. You’re up in the air, you get to see everything. Feel the wind blowing,” said Porterville High student Alexandra Garcia. “You get to learn more about the airplanes. It let you experience how big Fresno is and how pretty it is.”

There was a pancake breakfast and hamburger lunch provided.

They also got to learn about planes and airplane hanger.
