Aviation Ground School Starts in March

  • Local flight instructor Irwin Fust will be conducting an Aviation Ground School course for those interested in pursuing a Sport Pilot or Private Pilot license in the future.

    The class begins Wednesday, March 6 and runs 6-9 p.m. for 12 consecutive Wednesdays at the Terminal Building at Red Bluff Municipal Airport.

    The ground school course will cover all of the topics necessary to take and pass the FAA knowledge test, which is required before completing flight training.

    The course will cover airplanes and aerodynamics, aircraft engines, instruments and systems, federal airspace, airports, Air Traffic Control and Federal Aviation Regulations, airplane performance and weight and balance, aviation weather and weather services, navigation charts, navigation systems and cross country flight planning.

    The information taught in the course is necessary in understanding how airplanes fly and how to safely fly in American airspace. It is required knowledge for those seeking pilot certificates. The course also appeals to anyone who wants to understand the concepts of flight.
