  • MANHATTAN, Kan. (WIBW) The City of Manhattan says more people than ever are flying out of town.

Officials say 70,705 passengers caught a flight out of Manhattan Regional Airport in 2018, which is more than 4,700 than the previous year.

The City credits American Eagle’s decision to use larger aircraft, and to add a third daily flight to Chicago in 2018 for the increase.

Airport Director Jesse Romo said MHK Regional could attract additional service if the travel trends continue to rise.

American Eagle offers a total of four flights out of the Little Apple daily — one to Chicago, the three others go to Dallas-Fort Worth, however, officials say the airline will make seasonal adjustments to air services during peak and non-peak periods.
