Hogan Recognizes Aviation Community During September

  • Washington, DC- Set. 11, the Alliance for Aviation Across America applauded Governor Larry Hogan for declaring September 2018 “General Aviation and Community Airport Month.” In Maryland, general aviation airports support more than $865 million in business-generated revenue.

    “Communities across Maryland depend on general aviation to support public services, commerce, and agriculture,” said Selena Shilad, Executive Director of the Alliance for Aviation Across America. “These aircraft and local airports plays an important role in disaster relief efforts, supporting local commerce, and emergency services. We thank Governor Hogan for his recognition of general aviation and look forward to working with him in the future on issues important to aviation.”

    “General aviation airports and the aviation businesses that serve them provide economic certainty and job growth in communities and cities throughout Maryland and across the country,” said Timothy R. Obitts, Executive Vice President and General Counsel of the National Air Transportation Association. “NATA and our member companies across Maryland applaud Governor Hogan for highlighting this important industry and the critical value that it provides to the state.”

    According to the proclamation:

    “The State of Maryland has a significant interest in the continued vitality of general aviation, aerospace, aircraft manufacturing, educational intitutions and aviation organizations and community airports and airport operators.”
