Today, the Alliance for Aviation Across America applauded Governor Bruce Rauner for declaring June 2018 “General Aviation Appreciation Month.” In Illinois, general aviation contributes over $9 billion to the state’s total economic output.
“Governor Rauner’s proclamation raises awareness about the important contributions of general aviation to the state of Illinois,” said Selena Shilad, Executive Director of the Alliance for Aviation Across America. “We thank Governor Rauner for issuing this proclamation and highlighting the importance of general aviation and our network of airports.”
“Business aviation is a vital tool for rural, urban, and suburban companies,” said Ed Bolen, President and CEO of the National Business Aviation Association. “For companies of all sizes across Illinois, business aviation provides a direct and efficient means for businesses to meet their travel needs, allowing them to compete in new markets. We thank Governor Rauner for issuing this proclamation and highlighting the importance of business aviation.”
According to the proclamation:
“Many communities in Illinois support general aviation and community airports for the continued flow of commerce, aviation education, and travel for tourists and visitors to our state.”
