  • Governor Jay Inslee has declared June 2018 as “Aviation Appreciation Month.” In Washington, airports contribute more than $50.9 billion to the state’s economy each year.

“General aviation and local airports play an important role in supporting businesses, law enforcement, and disaster response efforts throughout the state of Washington,” said Selena Shilad, Executive Director of the Alliance for Aviation Across America. “We thank Governor Inslee for issuing this proclamation and highlighting the importance of general aviation.”

“Local airports and aviation businesses across Washington support skilled jobs that boost the economies of communities large and small,” said Timothy R. Obitts, Executive Vice President and General Counsel of the National Air Transportation Association.

    According to the governor’s proclamation:

“General aviation plays a vital role in our state’s response to emergencies and natural disasters, and many communities depend on it for the continued flow of commerce and tourists.”
