  • An Acadiana Veteran set to be honored in Washington D.C. Wednesday boarded a private flight Tuesday night to head to the Nation’s Capital.

The flight came after severe weather in the Southeast area of the country left 96-year-old  Brig. Gen. Robert Leblanc stranded at the Lafayette Airport.

Leblanc and his daughter boarded a private jet owned by the LHC Group.

LHC company officials say they saw KLFY’s ongoing coverage and decided to help the veteran get to his awards ceremony on time.

Leblanc is one of a few Office of Strategic Services Members from WWII who is still alive,

At 3 p.m. Wednesday he will be honored with the Congressional Gold Medal award from President Donald Trump.
