Domestic and international business jet operations soared to their highest level in a year, according to a new report.
The Federal Aviation Administration’s Business Jet Report for May 2017 said total U.S. and international operations — arrivals and departures — climbed to 5.15 percent, or 374,642 operations.
In the U.S. alone, business jet operations were up 4.6 percent from a year ago, the report said, to 314,066 from 300,250 in the May 2016 report. It was even higher internationally, where business jet operations increased 8.11 percent from a year ago.
“This shows a pretty healthy recovery in flight hours,” Vertical Research analyst Robert Stallard wrote in an e-mail to investors.
The gain in May was the highest monthly percentage increase domestically in 12 months, surpassing the prior month’s gain of 3.49 percent, according to the report.
The report also said the top three aircraft used for domestic business jet operations during the period, from first to third, were the Cessna Citation Excel, Hawker 800 and Citation V.
The top three airports in the country for business jet operations during the period were Teterboro Airport in New Jersey, Westchester County Airport in New York and Love Field Airport in Dallas, the report said.
