  • BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (WBKO) — The Bowling Green-Warren County Regional Airport is one of only four area airports plus Fed Ex Corporation to receive a Ground Support Equipment Award from the TVA..

Bowling Green’s award was $171,802, and they used it to buy an electric service truck, a belt loader, a scissor lift, a cargo tractor, and a ground power unit, which provides electricity to the airplane on the ground to keep it warm or cool. They say the belt loader will cut baggage handling time in half.

“We can load and turn a 29-seat airplane in a matter of about 20 minutes now” says Airport Manager Rob Barnett. He also says this all-electric equipment will cut carbon dioxide emissions at the airport by 248 tons; and will cut manpower costs and customer waiting time in half.
