  • Two local senior citizens got the chance to cross a big item off of their bucket lists.

Mount View and Cobbs Hill Assisted Living Centers helped to make flight school a reality for Carol Terrier, 79, and Gary Lickfield, 69.

The two took their first lessons in a private plane at the Genesee County Airport Friday morning.

“It’s very rewarding,” flight instructor Pete Lockner said. “My whole goal since 1991 was making general aviation available to people and making it pleasurable for everybody as much as I could.”

Carol and Gary were both thrilled with the flight and talked about it when they came back down to the ground.

“It was great and wonderful; everybody should do it,” Carol said. “Just looking at it and seeing how beautiful the world is.”

“[It was] wonderful,” Gary agreed. “Best experience I ever had in my life.”

The assisted living facilities will continue to help fulfill other bucket list wishes of its residents.
