Kasich celebrates aviation
Ohio Gov. John Kasich has proclaimed December “General Aviation Appreciation Month,” honoring airports’ contribution of more than $1.8 billion to the state’s economy.
Selena Shilad, executive director of the Alliance for Aviation Across America, noted in a news release that aviation connects Ohio communities “with critical services like emergency and medical care, firefighting, and law enforcement, and supports economic activity for businesses and communities of all sizes.”
The non-partisan coalition includes more than 6,300 businesses and nonprofits.
In his proclamation, Kasich notes that general aviation airports in Ohio support 17,497 jobs and $688 million in annual payroll.
