  • Alaska’s aviation enthusiasts have reason to celebrate as Gov. Walker has once again proclaimed September as Aviation Appreciation Month.

Governor Walker recently signed the proclamation encouraging all Alaskans to celebrate aviation as a unique resource in our state and to recognize the achievements of those who make aviation possible in the Last Frontier.

“We thank Governor Walker for recognizing the vital role aviation plays in Alaska. The State of Alaska plays a major part in that it operates 249 airports throughout the state. Eighty-two percent of Alaska’s communities are not connected to the road system. We rely on aviation to provide all-season access for commerce, transportation, and emergency medical services,” said John Binder, Deputy Commissioner of Alaska’s Department of Transportation and Public Facilities (ADOT&PF).

ADOT&PF joins with other aviation organizations such as the Alaska Air Carriers Association, Alaska Airmen Association, Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association, Federal Aviation Administration, and Alliance for Aviation Across America to thank Governor Walker for recognizing the significance of aviation in Alaska.
