Mayor Declares July General Aviation Appreciation Month

  • Mayor Steve Cummings recently proclaimed July General Aviation Appreciation Month to help kick off the start of the Experimental Aircraft Association’s AirVenture in Oshkosh.

    The Alliance for Aviation Across America and EAA recently commended Cummings for this proclamation, stating in Wisconsin general aviation airports contribute more than $694 million in economic impact annual, according to a news release from the Alliance.

    “For 47 years, EAA has called Oshkosh home,” EAA Chairman and CEO Jack Pelton said in the release. “We are very pleased to see Mayor Cummings recognize the role of general aviation in this community, coinciding with AirVenture, where we share the spirit of aviation with the world. We look forward to working with him to make AirVenture 2016 the best one yet.”

    “Mayor Cummings’ proclamation helps highlight the economic benefits and valuable service that general aviation provides to the City of Oshkosh and the State of Wisconsin,” said Selena Shilad, Executive Director of the Alliance for Aviation Across America. “Oshkosh plays a unique role supporting the general aviation community, and we look forward to working with the Mayor, EAA and the City of Oshkosh to support this vital industry.”
