  • The Pocatello Regional Airport has cancelled their Skyfest Air Show for 2017. Airport officials say with Idaho Falls hosting the Blue Angels that summer, it would a conflict with both cities seeking local sponsorship of events.

Airport Manager David Allen says that they were planning to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the Pocatello Air Base building, and pay tribute to the military. He says it can be tough on sponsors when they are being courted for two different events. “You can’t get the military airplanes to commit to two different air shows at the same area, same time. It just wasn’t going to work then,” Allen says, “So that was another reason. We knew weren’t going to be able to provide the sponsors with the kind of show we’re promising either.”

Allen says that in 2017 they will find another way to commemorate the Pocatello Air Base building and honor the military.
