  • Angel Flight South Central is proud to announce that Board Chairperson Dianna Stanger has been awarded the coveted Endeavor Award for leadership and service in Public Benefit Flying. The Endeavor Award is presented annually to individuals who exhibit exemplary service to others through General Aviation. As a volunteer pilot with Angel Flight South Central, as well as several other Public Benefit Flying organizations, Stanger sets a high bar through flying missions providing transportation to people in their time of greatest need, through her personal financial contribution to Angel Flight South Central, through her leadership as Board Chair, and through her tireless advocacy of General Aviation.

“Dianna’s great accomplishments and tremendous generosity set the standard for our volunteer pilots and their commitment to helping others through aviation,” states Tim Dammon, President and CEO of Angel Flight South Central. “Her dedication and energy has resulted in access to medical care for hundreds of people in need and is an inspiration to us all.”

Stanger says, “I’m thrilled to be honored by my colleagues in the Public Benefit Flying sector through this award. General Aviation plays a tremendous role in building strong communities across our nation, and it’s a pleasure to be able to use my skills and abilities to help others.”

The Endeavor Awards were established to provide a national platform to increase awareness and support for the use of aviation by individual pilots to provide free transportation for humanitarian purposes and are dedicated to:

Increasing awareness of the contributions of aviation to the public good

Encouraging more pilots and aircraft owners to become engaged in Public Benefit Aviation

Increasing support for all Volunteer Pilot Organizations that provide the administration necessary to match donated flights with those in need of free transportation to access humanitarian services

Members of the Endeavor Awards Organizing Committee include (among others) Mark Wolper, multiple Oscar and Emmy award winning Hollywood Producer and private pilot, Tom Poberezny, Chairman Emeritus of the Experimental Aircraft Association; Greg Kinnear, Academy Award nominee and Emmy winning actor and aviation enthusiast; and Randy Sherman, MD, Chair of the Division of Plastic Surgery, Cedars Sinai Medical Center, and accomplished pilot. The Selection Committee includes such notables as retired Nasa Astronaut Robert Lee “Hoot” Gibson and former US Navy pilot and Vietnam P.O.W. Charlie Plumb.
