The Davenport Municipal Airport celebrated the completion of a new addition.
The airport unveiled its new $6.5 million runway project Thursday morning.
The project is the first phase of seven infrastructure projects designed to improve the growth of the Quad Cities.
“This airport will receive a lot more attention because it will be bigger and better and will encourage economic development out here,” said Mayor Bill Gluba.
The next phase is the design and construction of the primary runway.
That is scheduled to begin early next year and should be complete by the end of 2017.
