$3M to be received in statewide airport investment grants

  • Eight Louisiana airports will be receiving grants from the U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) totaling $3,056,681 for infrastructure updates.

    The Ascension-St. James Airport and Transportation Authority will be receiving a grant of $300,000 for a runway extension project and updating runway signal and lighting structures at the Louisiana Regional Airport in Gonzales, La.

    The St. Landry Parish-Ahart Field Airport in Opelousas, La. will be receiving a grant of $83,279 for a project rehabilitating existing runway, providing for increased structural integrity and minimize debris.

    The Town of Vivian will be receiving a grant of $1,100,000 to fund a project paving 3,000 feet of runway at the Vivian Airport.

    The City of Abbeville will be receiving a grant of $600,000 to realign a taxiway at the Abbeville Chris Crusta Memorial Airport.

    The LaSalle Economic Development District will be receiving a grant of $400,000 for a project to rehabilitate runway and update the master plan of the Jena Airport in Jena, La.

    The Greater Lafourche Port Commission will be receiving a grant of $111,042 to fund a project making improvements to the airfield drainage system at the South Lafourche Leonard Miller Jr. Airport in Galliano, La.

    The City of Shreveport’s Shreveport Downtown Airport and Shreveport Regional Airport with will be receiving grants of $162,919 and $299,441, respectively, to fund projects paving taxiways.
