  • The Wilmington International Airport will soon be better suited to handle and house larger corporate jets.

Air Wilmington has broken ground on a new 21,000-square-foot hangar that will be the largest fully enclosed hangar at the airport.

The $3 million hangar will be 150 feet wide, 140 feet deep and 35 feet high, with a concrete floor to handle aircraft upward of 100,000 pounds.

Air Wilmington is the airport’s fixed-base operator that provides a range of services to airlines, the military and general aviation customers.
