Two California hikers on their first date were airlifted out of Angeles National Forest in Altadena, Calif., on Friday.
Shaunt Ghazeri told KTLA that he and Tina Mirzakhaniann were deep in conversation when they “took a wrong turn somewhere.”
Ghazeri used his cell phone to call the Altadena Sheriff’s station but was surprised when authorities, who were training rescue crews, sent a helicopter to airlift the couple to safety.
Both Ghazeri and Mirzakhaniann told KTLA that they would attempt a second date.
“Hopefully,” Ghazeri said.
“I love adventure stuff like that and I never thought I would have been in a helicopter,” Mirzakhaniann said.
The sheriff’s department told Pasadena Star-News that the couple were lucky to have cell phone reception in the forest.
