  • International Falls, MN. (NNCNOW.com) — U.S. Representative Rick Nolan was in International Falls to talk about the importance of keeping essential air and rail service, for small communities.

Congressman Nolan sits on the Aviation subcommittee of the House Transportation Subcommittee and is looking at funding through the FAA re-authorization bill.

Essential Air Service is already providing financial assistance to 8th District regional airports in Brainerd, Hibbing/Chisholm and International Falls, along with airports in Bemidji and Thief River Falls.

Nolan strongly supports EAS but want input from the regions served.

The essential air service is a U.S. government program, put into place to guarantee that small communities, once served by certificated air carriers before deregulation, maintain a minimal level of scheduled air service.
