  • SANFORD, Maine – Have you ever had a dream of flying? Wondered what the world looks like from high above, soaring like a bird? Here’s a chance to experience our beautiful landscape from that perspective, learn a new skill and explore the opportunities that aviation has to offer.

Join the Katahdin Wings Chapter 99s (The International Organization of Women Pilots, Inc.) as they invite women and girls to the Sanford Seacoast Regional Airport on Saturday, March 7, 2015 from 10 a.m to 3 p.m. for a day of hands-on learning about aviation, women in aviation history, careers in aviation, free airplane rides (first come, first served, weather permitting), open cockpits and aircraft displays, ground school stations, women aviation professionals, how aviation fits into our world today and more!

The Katahdin Wings Chapter 99s is celebrating Women Of Aviation Worldwide Week (March 2 to 8). This is an annual week of global awareness and outreach celebrating all women of aviation and their contribution to the betterment of the air and space industry. During the week, women-centric events will take place around the world focusing on the accomplishments of past and present women of aviation while welcoming the future women of aviation. To learn more about Women of Aviation Worldwide visit www.WomenOfAviationWeek.org.

The 99s continue to carry on their first president Amelia Earhart’s original mission to encourage women to pursue aviation either as a career or exciting hobby. For more information about The 99s go to www.ninety-nines.org and to learn about the local chapter visitwww.orgsites.com/me/katahdinwings/
