CARBONDALE, IL – A local airport is one of the busiest in Illinois. The Southern Illinois Airport announced on Monday that it is the 4th busiest airport in Illinois. The ranking is based off of traffic measured by the Federal Aviation Administration.
In 2014, the airport had more than 82,000 departures and arrivals. The busiest airports in Illinois is Chicago O’Hare, followed by Chicago’s Midway and the St. Louis Downtown airport in Cahokia.
