  • Two men, a woman and their dog were rescued by a sheriff’s helicopter team Saturday afternoon after becoming stranded atop a mountain in the Angeles National Forest above Altadena, authorities said.

The group was hiking near Switzer Falls at Bear Canyon when they went off trail, were unable to proceed back down the mountain and became disoriented, according to a news release from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.

One of the hikers requested help by using a cellphone to call the Crescenta Valley sheriff’s station in La Crescenta, the release said.

A helicopter team was dispatched and located the group on a mountain ridge.

The hikers and animal were then hoisted onto the aircraft. None of the rescued were injured. They were later released to the Montrose Search and Rescue team, the Sheriff’s Department said.
