  • After wrapping up a year of several successful regional fly-ins, the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association has announced it will be continuing its focus on smaller, local events in 2015.

The association has unveiled five new fly-in locations for the new year, and they span the continental U.S., with one to take place on May 16 at Salinas Municipal Airport, in Salinas, California; one on June 6 at AOPA’s home base, Frederick Municipal Airport, in Frederick, Maryland; one on August 22 at Anoka County-Blaine Airport, Minneapolis, Minnesota; one on September 26 at Colorado Springs Municipal Airport, Colorado Springs, CO; and one on October 10 at Tullahoma Regional Airport, Tullahoma, Tennessee.

In 2014 AOPA made the move to regional events, holding six throughout the U.S., in addition to a homecoming fly-in in Frederick, Maryland, in place of the association’s previous annual summit. Upon announcing the decision AOPA President Mark Baker said he made the move in order to reach more of the association’s members, and the fly-ins that followed saw great attendance and reaction from members.

“Outstanding attendance, thousands of airplanes, hundreds of exhibitors, and many very happy people made the decision to continue the AOPA Fly-Ins in 2015 an easy one,” AOPA says on its website.
