Alabama Aviation Center Hosting Inaugural Career Fair, Open House Nov. 1

  • MOBILE, Alabama – High-flying careers will be on display Saturday during the Alabama Aviation Center’s inaugural Aviation Career Fair and Open House.

    The four-hour event is being coordinated jointly by the Southwest Alabama Workforce Development Council and the center, a division of Enterprise State Community College. The Alabama Aviation Center is located at 1975 Avenue C at Mobile Aeroplex at Brookley.

    Participating aviation employers include:

    •AMRO Aero
    •AEROSTAR
    •Airbus
    •Segers Aero Corp.
    •UTC Aerospace Systems
    •VT Mobile Aerospace Engineering

    Flight Training of Mobile will also be present.

    Job seekers are encouraged to attend the two-hour job fair beginning at 8 a.m., where potential candidates will have the opportunity to meet with employers and discuss current and future positions. They are also encouraged to bring several copies of their resumes along with documentation of any credentials and/or licenses.

    Positions for which employers are seeking current and future workers include:

    •Licensed A/P Mechanics
    •Licensed Composite Technicians
    •Avionics Technicians
    •Avionics Mechanics
    •Lead Mechanics
    •Sheet Metal Assemblers
    •Design Engineers
    •Master Structures Technicians
    •Team Leaders
    •Flight Test Engineer
    •Ground Test Engineer
    •Assembly Line IT Specialist

    Meanwhile, the second half of the event beginning at 10 a.m. includes a two-hour community open house.

    Students and potential job candidates are especially encouraged to visit the facility, where instructors will be on hand to discuss the different programs offers and offer guidance on what it takes to have a successful career in the aviation industry.

    The Alabama Aviation Center currently offers the following programs: Powerplant Technology – Powerplant mechanics build and maintain aircraft engines and propellers. These technicians are in high demand by regional and national commercial airlines, general aviation companies and also in support of the military.

    Avionics – The avionics technology program begins with a broad-based approach to the study of electronics and builds towards specialized application in aviation electronics equipment.

    Composites – A skilled composite technician is trained in the manufacturing methods and repair processes on critical composite methods and materials used on modern aircrafts.
