  • The Inland Valley Development Agency (IVDA) is asking for bids on a $3.6 million General Aviation hangar facility that could house up to 30 planes.

The addition would be built off the south end of Victoria Avenue, across a taxiway from the Sheriff’s Aviation new headquarters.

Both General Aviation and Sheriffs Aviation are being moved from Rialto Airport as that airport is being closed and will be developed as a residential/retail addition.

Money from the sale of the airport will go toward paying for the new facilities.

“We have planes waiting for hangars now,” said Interim Airport Manager Michael Burrows at the IVDA Commission Oct. 8 meeting.

Pre-engineered hangar manufacturers and construction firms are being invited to bid on the General Aviation contract.

IVDA will retain ownership of the hangars, expected to produce about $19,000 a year in lease payments.
