Stranded Hiker Rescued from Provo Canyon

  • PROVO CANYON, Utah – Crews have rescued a hiker stranded overnight in Provo Canyon.

    The Utah County Sheriff’s Office received a call from the hiker at around 11:30 p.m. Thursday. The 25-year-old man had been hiking by himself throughout the day on Thursday, and once it got dark, he realized he was in trouble and called for help.

    The hiker, stranded on a cliff near Squaw Peak Road in Provo Canyon, is uninjured. Police decided to wait until daylight on Friday to attempt a helicopter rescue of the man.

    The man was brought down from the canyon at about 8:20 a.m. Friday.
