  • INHOFE PREPARING SECOND PILOTS’ RIGHTS BILL: Sen. (and pilot) Jim Inhofe is working on another bill designed to ease the burden on general aviation pilots — dubbed the “Pilot’s Bill of Rights 2” — and he wants the aviation community to speak up. Inhofe unveiled his draft bill yesterday, saying in a statement that goal of the bill is “to continue addressing unfair practices and regulations toward the aviation industry.” Among other things, the measure would expand the 3rd class medical exemption, limit CBP searches of GA aircraft, build upon other pilot protections offered in the original 2012 law and subject contract air traffic control tower and other outsourced FAA programs to FOIA requests. The Experimental Aircraft Association and AOPA were among the groups praising the legislation. See the bill text (http://1.usa.gov/1r6Ky4a) or submit comments before August 8 (http://1.usa.gov/1vow2CM).
