  • LAKE CHARLES, La. (AP) – Officials say a new hangar for private jets will help attract business to Chennault International Airport.
Ground was broken Friday for the hangar, which is being partially funded with more than $2 million in state capital outlay money.
KPLC-TV reports that Million Air, which operates a fueling and maintenance base at the industrial airport, will manage the hangar. The structure will be the airport’s third hangar for private jets. It’s designed to hold an aircraft up to the size of a Gulfstream 550, or multiple smaller aircraft.

Chennault Executive Director Randy Robb says the airport is expanding its cargo operations and the hangar will allow for more effective and safe transfer of cargo.
