Several Mayors Declare February General Aviation Appreciation Month

  • Several mayors have proclaimed February General Aviation Appreciation Month, including Jason L. Shelton of Tupelo, Miss., and Mayor Scott B. Phillips, Jr. of Olive Branch, Miss.

    In Mississippi, general aviation has an annual economic impact of $860 million.

    Mayor Chuck Spieth of Oroville, Wash. also has proclaimed February “General Aviation Appreciation Month.” In Washington, the general aviation industry represents $3.18 billion in economic activity annually. The Dorothy Scott Municipal Airport has an annual economic impact of $3.1 million and supports 51 local jobs.

    Mayor Cedric B. Glover of Shreveport, La., also has proclaimed February “General Aviation Appreciation Month.” In Louisiana, general aviation contributes more than $2 billion annually to the state’s economy.
