  • A woman lost in the Mt. Baldy wilderness was rescued by helicopter Wednesday morning.

The 35-year-old was reported missing Tuesday night when she didn’t return home, according to San Bernardino County sheriff’s spokeswoman Jodi Miller.

Deputies from the sheriff’s Fontana station and members of the San Bernardino County Fire Department started searching for the woman on Tuesday night.

They found her vehicle at the Manker Flats parking area around 1 a.m., Miller said.

“When rescue ship responded, they saw a light distress signal at the base of the falls,” Miller said via email. “Search and rescue responded and she was hoisted out of the area.”

She was taken to a hospital by helicopter with a leg and ankle injury, according to Miller.

Neither the name nor the hometown of the rescued woman was released.
