  • A multimillion-dollar improvement project at Springfield’s Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport is now complete.

Work included upgrading taxiways and perimeter roads and renovating public restrooms to make then ADA compliant.

The airport has also installed a solar thermal collection system to offset the cost to heat water in the terminal.

But the work isn’t all done. Airport officials are planning for another nearly $8 million improvement project this year. That includes upgrades to airport security, an ADA-compliant boarding bridge, and an expansion of the pre-screening waiting lounge.
