  • Fort Lauderdale flight training academy Airborne Systems has been acquired by VEE One Group Inc. for an undisclosed amount, a spokesman involved with the deal confirmed Monday.
No additional details of the private sale were released.
The buyer VEE One owns and manages flight schools, said Thomas Jones, senior vice president of Fort Lauderdale-based Transworld Business Advisors brokerage, who handled the transaction.
Airborne operates at 2011 S. Perimeter Road, Suite G, at the Fort Lauderdale Executive Airport (FXE) and has been providing private and commercial pilot flight training since 1994.
The general aviation airport is one of the busiest in its category in the country and is home to more than 700 aircraft, including 115 jets, according to the City of Fort Lauderdale, its operator.
The flight school is equipped with state-of-the-art simulators and advanced aviation training devices and operates one of the youngest fleets of training aircraft in South Florida, according to its website airbornesystems.net.
Students earn their wings about 30 percent faster than the national average based on information compiled by the Airplane Owners and Pilot’s Association, Airborne said.
