  • EL DORADO, Ark. (AP) – The El Dorado Airport Commission has approved a pair of projects to expand and renovate parts of the South Arkansas Regional Airport.

Arkansas Business reports that one project involves the $1.6 million construction of a new hangar at the airport. Commission chairman Jeff Teague says the airport currently does not have a city-owned hangar – only privately owned hangars.

Funding for the project comes from the Federal Aviation Administration, the Arkansas Department of Aeronautics and the El Dorado Economic Development Board. Last week, the airport commission accepted a $1.6 million bid for the project from DayCo Construction Inc. of Damascus.

The second approved project calls for the renovation of the airport’s terminal.
