  • Roanoke, VA – Renovations at Roanoke Regional Airport are all but done after more than seven months of work.

An airport spokesperson says the final touches are being worked on with the project wrapping up within a week.

The $4 million upgrade includes new front doors, an escalator, bigger concourses, new bathrooms and new charging stations for computers and cell phones.

While the numbers aren’t final, airport officials believe the renovations to the 25-year-old airport will come in under budget.

“It’s going to look much nicer for them [customers]. There’s a lot more room in the concourses in the gate areas. We’re getting a lot of positive feedback. Passengers are emailing us every day to say they like it and they like the charging stations,” said Sherry Wallace, Spokesperson for Roanoke Regional Airport.

The project as a whole is taking a little more than a month longer to complete than originally expected.
