  • The Rock Island County Metropolitan Airport Authority has been awarded a $1.65 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation for improvement projects at the Quad-City International Airport.

The grant was jointly announced in a news release Monday by U.S. Sen. Dick Durbin and U.S. Rep. Cheri Bustos, both Illinois Democrats. The funding will go toward the airport’s recently completed snow removal equipment building and for extending the airport’s service road.

Last year, Durbin announced a $2.88 million grant for the airport to increase its snow removal equipment fleet.
