  • The Experimental Aircraft Association’s AirVenture 2013 will take off on Monday, July 29, and flies through Sunday, Aug. 4, at Wittman Regional Airport, 525 W. 20th Ave., in Oshkosh. Fly-ins are expected to begin on Sunday, July 28.

The EAA AirVenture 2013 will feature programs and activities designed for all ages. Highlights include a Salute to Veterans Day on Friday, Aug. 2, live music throughout the week by Chasin’ Mason, Aaron Tippin, Gary Sinise, Da Blooze Brothers and Phillips 66 Plaza.

The Flying Cinema and the Skyscape Theater will show family movies such as “The Spirit of Aviation,” “Keep em Flying,” and “Iron Man 2,” throughout the day. The Theater in the Woods will offer live performances each evening at 8 p.m. including “Space Night,” “Bringing the Space Shuttle West” and “American Warriors.” On Sunday, Theater in the Woods will offer church services with a protestant service at 9:15 a.m. and Catholic Mass celebrated at 10:15 a.m.

While afternoon airshows will start each day at 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 31 and Saturday, Aug. 3, will offer night air shows with fireworks.

Tora! Tora! Tora! is a re-enactment of warbird planes and is planned for Friday, Aug. 2, and Saturday, Aug. 3.

Ground exhibits include Warbirds in Review, a tribute to Yves “Jetman” Rossy, the world’s first jet-powered man, a round-up of ultralight planes and homebuilt aircraft, and of course, vintage planes and aircraft.

Throughout the week, visitors can attend workshops and forums. Children can participate in arts and crafts and visit educational stations related to aviation.

The more adventurous can ride aboard a Henry Ford 1929 Tri-motor airplane, a restored B-17 aluminum overcast plane or a Schweizer 333 turbine helicopter.

Daily admission fees do not include aircraft rides or parking fees. Admission fees range from daily passes to weekly passes to AirVenture weekend packages. Organizers encourage purchasing admission tickets and parking passes online to avoid long lines at the gate.
