HondaJet to be featured at Wisconsin aviation event

  • Greensboro-based Honda Aircraft Co.announced Monday that its $4.5 million business jet will be featured at the Experimental Aircraft Association’s aviation event in Oshkosh, Wis., that runs from July 29 through Aug. 4.

    The EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2013 event, which is known as one of the world’s premier aviation events, will feature more than 775 exhibitors and is expected to drawmore than 500,000 aviation enthusiasts from about 60 countries. Honda Aircraft Co.’s President and CEO Michimasa Fujinowill be in attendance.

    “This will be an exciting event for all in attendance and among enthusiasts who passionately follow the HondaJet,” company officials said in a press release.

    The HondaJet was featured earlier this year at a business aviation conference in Geneva and is targeting the end of 2014for obtaining FAA certification. The events are important venues for showcasing the jet to potential customers and aviation enthusiasts.

    The jet is being manufactured at Piedmont Triad International Airport and the company employs more than 800 people in the region.

    Honda Aircraft is a wholly owned subsidiary of American Honda Motor Co. (NYSE: HMC).
