  • Lafayette Regional Airport’s Deputy Director of Aviation, Michael Burrows, has been elected as President of the Louisiana Airport Managers and Associates (LAMA). Over the next two years, Burrows will lead the organization in providing a forum for the exchange of management ideas between airport managers, promoting aviation and airport interests, fostering the development of education programs and scholarships for aviation students, and providing a strong, credible influence with the state legislative bodies on legislation concerning aviation and airports in Louisiana.

“It’s an honor that my fellow airport managers selected me to lead our organization for the next two years,” says Burrows. “The aviation industry can be a tumultuous one and LAMA represents the best interests of Louisiana’s airports and ensures their longevity and prosperity for the future.”

Burrows previously served two years as a member-at-large and legislative liaison, after which he was elected vice president and legislative liaison for the past year. He has been deputy director of aviation at Lafayette Regional Airport since April 2008, after joining the airport as an operations specialist in 2002. He holds a bachelor of science in aviation management from Louisiana Tech University and is a certified member of the American Association of Airport Executives. He is also a private pilot.
