Va. Police: Nebraska Couple Die in Plane Crash

  • WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (AP) — Virginia State Police have released the names of a Nebraska couple killed in a plane crash near Williamsburg.

    Spokeswoman Corinne Geller says 54-year-old pilot Joseph D. Brown IV and his wife, 52-year-old Susan D. Brown, died when a single-engine Cessna 210 crashed in a James City County subdivision. Their dog also died in the crash. There were no other passengers on the plane.

    Geller says the crash occurred at 4:53 p.m. Friday near the Williamsburg-Jamestown Airport, where the plane was supposed to land. She says no one on the ground was injured, and no buildings were damaged.

    Federal Aviation Administration investigators arrived at the scene Friday evening.

    Other details, including the victims’ hometown, weren’t immediately released.
