  • The Jefferson County Board of Legislators General Services Committee approved a resolution Tuesday authorizing $234,627.36 for improvements to Watertown International Airport.

The funds will go to Barrett Paving Materials Inc. of Watertown for the rehabilitation of Taxiway B. The Federal Aviation Administration will provide $222,896.00, with $5,865.68 coming from the state Department of Transportation and $5,865.68 coming from the county, according to the resolution.

The funds were provided by the FAA because of a cost overrun. The money will finance an increase in rock excavation as well as the addition of a stone base and additional blacktop. It also will provide improvements to the general aviation apron.
