  • Dozens of aviation experts were in Albuquerque on Wednesday to talk about New Mexico’s future in aerospace.

They were here to talk about ways to stimulate the economy with aerospace development.

Officials from the military, the labs and the private sector and local government – a veritable “brain trust” of expertise – packed a conference room at the Sunport to discuss possibilities for the industry.

Among the topics were Virgin Galactic’s Spaceport America and our optimal weather conditions.

“I think anyone in aviation is extremely excited about it, because it’s really cutting edge,” said Pete Bunce of the General Aviation Manufacturers Association. “To think that it’s not the government going to space, it’s a private industry going to space, it’s got to get anybody excited.”
