  • THE launch of a new aviation service centre at Robin Hood Airport Doncaster Sheffield could bring fresh job opportunities to the region.

That is the hope of Doncaster Council, whose mayor Peter Davies welcomed the investment, adding that it could lead to other companies focusing on the town.

Cessna Aircraft Company has announced its first Cessna-owned Citation Service Centre (CSC) in the UK, located at Robin Hood.

The newly-acquired 50,000-square-foot facility, rebranded as the Doncaster CSC, offers a wide range of services from maintenance to modernisation and paint.

Previously known as Kinch Aviation Services, the business has operated for 15 years and has been a Cessna authorised service facility for the past four years.

The UK operation becomes the fourth Cessna-operated CSC in Europe, complementing facilities in Paris, France; Prague, Czech Republic; and Valencia, Spain.

Doncaster Mayor Peter Davies, said: “It is tremendous news that Cessna Aviation, the world’s largest general aviation manufacturer have shown confidence in Doncaster by choosing to invest directly into a new Citation Service Centre at Robin Hood Airport.

“Cessna are the latest big name aviation company to invest on the airport site and with the FARRRS link road starting construction in the near future it is hoped that this will be the catalyst for other companies to look seriously at Robin Hood Airport and the benefits to be gained by locating here.”

Joe Hepburn, Cessna senior vice president, Customer Service, said: “The location of the Doncaster facility has been popular with our European customers and the centre has a proven record of high-quality customer service.”
