Ontario County officials gathered today at Canandaigua Airport to celebrate the expansion of a runway that hopefully will attract new companies.
The runway extension project is being funded by a $7 million grant from the Federal Aviation Administration. The added runway length will enable corporate jets and other private aircraft to land at Canandaigua Airport.
Construction on the project is expected to last at least one year, with the project being potentially complete in late 2013. The ultimate timeline for the project, which will increase the existing length of the runway from 3,200 feet to 5,500 feet, is dependent on the weather.
