BATESVILLE, AR (KAIT) – The Batesville Regional Airport recently received a $2.3 million grant from the U.S. Department of Transportation for improvements and new construction projects.

Airport manager Darren Wilkes says the money will be used to extend the runway safety area and meet current Federal Aviation Administration design standards.

Wilkes says the grant will also be used to install perimeter fencing to make the runway more secure.

Will DuPree will explain when these improvements should get underway tonight on Region 8 News at 6 and 10.
