In their December meeting, the Texas Transportation Commission approved approximately $430,000 for the Llano Muncipal Airport.
Four new hangars will be constructed at the Llano Municipal Airport, following the authorization of an application to TxDOT for Non-Primary Entitlement Funds. The total cost for the project is estimated to be $430,000, 10% of which the City will be required to fund, for a total estimated cost to the City of $43,000
Representatives from the airport said that there is already a waiting list for hangar rentals and that they have received a lot of positive feedback from airport patrons.
Bids will be taken for the construction, and work will begin about 60 days after bids are opened.
The project is being funded through TxDOT’s Aviation Facilities Grant Program, which preserves and improves the state’s general aviation system, and the City of Llano.
This year, TxDOT expects to provide approximately $60 million in funding for planning, constructing and maitaining community airports; around 275 community airports in Texas are eligible for funding.
