  • The American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials has joined the Alliance for Aviation Across America.
The alliance has participated in panel discussions at several AASHTO meetings to highlight the importance of general aviations. The alliance subsequently approached AASHTO about joining the coalition that has reached more than 5,500 members including many aviation organizations, businesses, humanitarian organizations, agricultural producers, and elected officials.

“AASHTO and the alliance share many of the same goals including the development and preservation of transportation access to rural America, and raising the awareness and promotion of general aviation to our states,” AASHTO President Susan Martinovich, Nevada’s transportation director, wrote in a letter to Selena Shilad, the alliance’s executive director, accepting its membership invitation. “The diversity of the alliance coalition members speaks to the strong importance that general aviation has on our states’ economic development, particularly in many of our more rural and frontier regions.”
