Senate Passes Three-Month FAA Extension

  • The Senate Thursday night passed H.R. 4217, a bill to extend FAA programs and excise taxes through March 31, 2010. The current extension expires at the end of the year.

The additional extension will provide a total of $2 billion in AIP contract authority for the first six months of FY10. This equals half of the $4 billion that the House and Senate versions of the FAA reauthorization bill include for AIP in the same fiscal year.

The Senate action clears the way for the President to sign the bill into law and gives lawmakers more time to work on a multi-year FAA bill.
