Senators Call for Passage of FAA Bill

  • A bipartisan group of lawmakers sent a letter to Senate leaders late last week calling for passage of an FAA reauthorization bill. The letter was signed by 35 senators.

The Senate Commerce Committee on July 21 approved the FAA Air Transportation and Modernization Act of 2009, S. 1451. However, progress has stalled – in part – because the Finance Committee has yet to consider the tax portion of the bill.

AAAE President Charles Barclay last week also sent letters to Reid urging him and his Senate colleagues to quickly pass a multi-year FAA bill and to permanently eliminate the AMT penalty on airport private activity bonds.
