* AAAA Attends Proclamation-Signing Ceremony with Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue
* Alliance for Aviation Across America Applauds Newly-Formed Senate General Aviation Caucus
Today, at the State Capitol in Atlanta, Georgia Governor Sonny Perdue issued a strong proclamation recognizing the important role that aviation plays in Georgia’s economy, and for towns and communities across the state.
With Alliance Executive Director Selena Shilad in attendance, Governor Perdue signed the proclamation, which stated, “In our nation’s history, aviation has been a unique and transformative endeavor that has become a key component of the American experience, serving as a source of great pride and patriotism. The United States leads the world in aviation, as 70 percent of all General Aviation worldwide is concentrated in America. Georgia aviation and aircraft manufacturing has played an ever-expanding role in both the everyday lives of our citizens and the future of aviation around the globe . . .”
Also, just yesterday, the Alliance for Aviation Across America issued a letter in support of the newly-formed US Senate General Aviation Caucus, and applauded Senators for recognizing the impact of general aviation on small towns and rural communities across the country.
“We applaud the Senate for acknowledging the important role of general aviation for small towns and rural communities across America, and urge all Senators to join this important new organization,” said Selena Shilad, Executive Director of the Alliance for Aviation Across America. “General aviation provides a vital link between farm and rural communities and larger towns, cities and markets around the world – and it also contributes more than $150 billion to the U.S. economy annually and employs 1.2 million workers.”

While this is great news, our community still faces real threats, and we need to continue to work hard to communicate the importance of general aviation for towns and rural communities around the country.
Formed in 2007, the Alliance for Aviation Across America is a non-profit, non-partisan coalition of over 4,400 individuals representing businesses, agricultural groups, FBO’s, small airports, elected officials, charitable organizations, and leading business and aviation groups that support the interest of the general aviation community across various public policy issues.
